w.i.p. corporate center atrium

So this is the next one I’m working on. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with daylight this time 8)

I’m not exactly sure what is causing the noise at the bottom. Should I raise the subdiv. on the vray light i have at the top? Right now its at 15.

Also, I’m going to have to put plants & trees in the 2 areas by the stairs. I will probably end up comp’ing them in photoshop, but have also thought about getting a plants plugin like speedtree or something. For those that have used any of those, what would you recommend for quality, ease of use, & speed?

Thanks!

hello timmatron. looks very nice. about the vray light- i’ve had the same problem and unless you use another light source inside the room you sould use more subdiv.keeps us posted. good luck.

itay.

is that modelled in sketchup?

Nope, modeled in autocad. The lines are just from the vray toon effect.

Here’s an update. The end result will be mixed with some of the existing elements since this is only a remodel.

I haven’t decided what to do with the offices yet. Not sure if it would look better to have them all lit up, or keep them darker inside.

this is looking great. keep it up.

I think this will look awesome, timmatron. Looking forward to future updates.

vray toon shader

what version is the vray toon shader in ? i have viz 2004, is it available for viz 2004??

thanks

ryan

Re: vray toon shader

Well that depends on whether the latest 1.45 build is available for Viz 4. If 1.45 works with Viz 4 then you will be able to use the vray toon.

So, to answer your question, I don’t know!

well the version of viz im using would be considered version 5

Oh, I thought you meant Viz 4. If you are using version 5, then you mean Viz 2005? In that case, you will definitely be able to use the vray toon.

cool thank you so much for your reply… yes sorry i ment VIZ 2005

what version of vray must i upgrade to? im using version 1.09.

Thanks again

Ryan

You just have to download the latest beta version 1.45. Lots of other cool stuff in that version to play with too.

hello again sorry for the million questions but i downloaded and installed the 1.45 beta and i just tried to create the toon material. The only vray mats i can find are vRay Mat , vRay LIte mat, and vray mtrl wrapper.
Is this correct?

Thanks again!

Yea you were looking in the wrong place. Its actually an option in the environment tab. Here’s a tutorial Natty put together a while back. Hope this helps

hehehe thanks again i just found that 2 mins ago

thanks for all your help eek now i have another problem im going to have to try and figure out after installeing the beta its asking for the vray license server i dont know why that happened i have a licensed version and now it wont let me use it EEEEEEEEEEK

Oh yea, thats always the “fun” part. Take a look at the online manual - you will find some detailed help on how to get the license.

Here is pretty much the final version. I’m not a big fan of the color selection here, but I had no choice. The planters actually were my biggest challenge since I didn’t use any 3d plants. So I think it could be better, but I will have to keep that in mind for next time.

wow you really did a good job! love the rock pillars!

He he, the cmu columns were actually the one thing that I cut from the existing photograph & pasted onto the rendering. It took a bit of work to get them all to look ok, since in the original most of them were blocked by trees & plants. I considered trying to render it using displacement, but I realized why should I go to so much trouble when I don’t need to.
