In Sketchup or Rhino, is there any way to adjust the water to minimize the texture tiling?
I have noticed that, obviously it’s not created with a procedural material, I was also hoping to have more control over water, maybe have it texture driven like the grass or presets for say, pond, pool. lake, sea, ocean, wine, beer, glass of water.
Im not sure if this will fix your issues, but rhino tends to not import textures correctly 1to1. So you have map the texture to (surface, volume, etc).
Click on the object your are trying to map, and you will see in properties 4 icons. Properties, Materials, and Texture map.
Click on texture map and that will give you few options depending on type of material you are trying to adjust texture. Once the dialogs are over you should see a new options when you click the texture map icon again. Here you can adjust the tiling of the material as well as the seams.
Likewise in sketchup, click your bucket tool and go down to adjust tiling of water.
In my case it’s the Enscape procedural texture, it means, it should be randomized by the Enscape code and is independent from the mapping settings.
Right, the Enscape water material does not react to UVs. Its on our agenda to reduce the tiling and maybe add more options for different water styles.
If we had the option to change the scaling of the uv for water it would be a big help. Being able to make your predefined texture(s) larger would allow us the ability to minimize tiling in some cases.
If adjusting uv is an issue, another tactic would be to set the default scale to 2 to 4 times the size it is currently. Then you could provide a few different normal maps with waves at dfferent scales. This would also be a big improvement.
