Weekend quick viz

hi all,
just wanted to share another busy weekend result:

feed-back is most welcome!

Really nice exposure and composition - I wonder could the grass be a bit brighter or have some specular? The fourth render is a photo

yeah i agree the closeups look fantastic, well done.

For the other ones, I guess you can see a bit more grain in them and they dont look quite as nice to me, but still good job. All in 1 weekend? very impressive.

I’m sure with more time the grain issues etc will be easily overcome

thanx guys!

info:
2 days work
modeling: Jacinto Monteiro and me (Nuno Castro)
lighting, rendering and post: me (Nuno Castro)

dmc+lc workflow, which never failed me, but produce somewhat longer rendertimes which had to be tight due to the deadlines resulting in more noise then desirable.
i guess i ll find time to re-render them to remove all noise.

i am humbled for your reply s!
I don t post much and have been working solo for to long and the feed back i get is from the client and my wife(thanks for putting me up!). Your feed back is like a breath of fresh air, and will drive me to work harder!
thanx, again.

Can’t fault them, especially for 2 days work!! I’m glad my clients don’t visit this forum, otherwise I’d be out of work!

The people look really well integrated in the scene - are they 3d?
To me the grass looks good as it is.

Also, I’m a big fan of ir+dmc for exterior stuff, why do you use dmc+lc? is it better?

Very good job for 2 days!
One question, what do you use for reflection of metal plate?
Thanks

IM/LC

detail…
the quality is far superior imo, but comes with a price (rendertimes)
imo dmc proved to be far more predictable then irmaps. No more splotches, blinking GI, lack of detail, and long trial and error tests!

Really nice work. Love the 4th one.

..ahh.. thanks guys. That explains it clearly!

Although I do think you’re being rather tough on yourselves, or maybe it’s just my low standards!! I’d much rather save a few hours and go sunbathing on the beach…

in my experience every time i tried to use irmaps i tend to spend more time trial-error my settings rather then going brute force from the start.

then again i must admit my ā€œnoobinessā€ when it comes to irmaps!

besides…i d take those render hours and use them as an excuse to go out…or else i d be stuck with work!

Hey Nuno, great work man!
I agree about ā€˜noise’ but in this dealine you made your best.
As Joconnel: ā€˜The fourth render is a photo’! Like architectural magazines, very good.
I dont like so much all this 3d peoples, maybe less…?

Best Regards!

The ā€˜detail enhancement’ option in the IR map works wonders for me. I just set the radius value to be just smaller than the smallest ā€˜gap’ in the scene, then use the medium preset. Although I don’t do many animations, so it may not be an option for that. Not sure how it would behave on visumporec’s wall texture either.
