Good morning, I’m experimenting with vray for blender and I don’t know why the ipr preview is very different from what I see in the final render,
in the first, using the Brute Force engine, it gives me the lighting that I want, with hard shadows and high contrast, in the second one, using Light Cache, it lowers the contrast and the lighting becomes very different from the IPR, online i read that the problem is how vray works with brute force and light cache and I don’t want to wait hours and hours for one render beacuse of the different lighting result. I tried modifing the light cache setting but there are very little changes. It’s the Global illumination that gives me this low contrast and I don’t know why it differs so much from IPR to final render
I’m getting very confused because I can’t find anithing about how to resolve this online and the only solution for now is to accept that the final render will be a lot ugly from the ipr
Thanks for anyone that will help me
In my opinion it’s just a noise perception matter.
Try to do a render border rendered viewport and, as it will be noise free in a quick time, you’ll be able to make a more useful comparison with the final render.
And check if you’are denoising the final image…often it smooth the result and it removes also the subtle noise that sometimes helps on defining the image.
Hi, when you choose an engine in the GI tab, you’re actually selecting the engine for the secondary diffuse bounces. The primary bounces are always calculated with Brute Force.
Brute Force is very accurate, especially in scenes with lots of small details, while Light Cache is designed to quickly approximate global illumination and speed up rendering.
From your description it sounds like you’re comparing BF + BF (in IPR) with BF + LC (in the final render), so some lighting differences are expected because Light Cache smooths the indirect lighting.
If the look you prefer is the one from BF + BF in the IPR, is there a specific reason you switch to BF + LC for the final render?
I prefer to use LC because it takes very less time compared to brute froce and it has less noise, the point is that there is a lot of difference between BF and LC in my 2 render, I really don’t know if it’s only the difference between the 2 “calculation” that causes it
