Something I’m working on. VRay was worked like a charmed so far giving me quick test renders. Then I came across this:
VRay Adv. 1.09.03g
Using high preset with 50 sub d’s and 20 interpolations. This image I used a stored irradiance map from previous image. I only get these weird splotches in the shawdows - not in direct sunlit areas. Any ideas what causes this? My settings are pretty high. The subdivisions on my direct light are at 40.
just guesing but 1: if there are any changes from the precaled irrad map, you’ll have to redo it, 2: if it’s not that then instanced objects or using the mirror tool can cause these.
Yes - I used alot of instanced geometry and I mirror lots as well. What is the work around for this? Do I tell Vray to use instance rather than replicate in the system box?
ok, thats simple. the irradiance map is view dependant. so you need to re-render that frame with add to current map checked to get the GI samples for that view, then render from file shoud be fine.
