We want to keep Chaos Player regularly updated with users having access to all improvements and new features all the time. For this reason it made the most sense to have it as an annual term license only.
We don’t plan on offering perpetual licenses for it. Why do you think it will be better if there were perpetual licenses?
I think a permanent license means permanent access to the latest updates.

Permanent usually means permanent access to the version, for which you’ve purchased the license.
For example, you buy a permanent (a.k.a. perpetual license) when version 2 is out. Updates to version 2 are free. When version 3 comes out, your license won’t work, unless you pay for an upgrade.
With the current offering, product versions won’t matter, and you get access to everything that’s out there all the time.
