A white “white balance”, is equal to no “white balance”, correct?
Probably? I use neutral as none.
Yes.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason why WB in Vray works differently from WB in camera. For example there is no neutral/or Off feature with DSLRs?
And any chance of getting a Auto WB feature implemented sometime in the future?
@mdi : There’s an autoWB tool in Solidrocks.
But you can do it with ease with this method :
make a preview/small/region render of your scene.(using Vray VFB)
Then make a right-click on a pixel wich should be white in your render, write on post it the color(8bit) value.
finally, select your Vray camera and put this value into the white balance color.
That’s it ! In next render, the pixel you choosed will be rendered white.
If you download the raw data from the camera sensor, it won’t have any white balance correction. In DSLRs, like in V-Ray, the white balance is simply for convenience. Regular film-based cameras have no white balance control; their response to color is pre-determined by the film itself.
And any chance of getting a Auto WB feature implemented sometime in the future? This might be a bit slow to do in the camera as it would require a pre-render of the image to determine its overall color hue. However it can be done relatively easily straight into the V-Ray VFB.

This exists in Solidrocks as mentioned. Jerome has really done some nice work with it, and it’s cheap!
