Decided to download the video tho.. hate watching streaming shit.
If anyone else doesnt want to sit thru the stream let me know and I will supply the downloaded WMV file.

could you maybe add a linky link?

As requested, a Linky link

DOWNLOAD HERE
Note: This file is exactly the same as the streaming content.. well it IS the streaming content.

Awesome

What are the chances of a true multi-threaded 64 bit version of studio max in the next 50 years?

How about the feasibility of a 64 bit compile of VRay working in conjunction with a 32 bit installation of max. Not possible?

keep your eyes peeled for 64bit max, not too far off now

Will it be given as a free product in my subscription?

That’s… funky bananas!

How reliable is your source?

intel this intel that ! :frowning:

whats amazing to me is how long this has been out for XSI. and STILL no 64bit max or vray.

there is a 64bit vray…remember vlado’s avatar ?

Yes there is a 64bit standalone version of v-ray, it has been around for a while but still being worked on…

Bottom line we will wait wait wait.. Vray 1.5, Vray 64 bit , max 64

Looks like only max users wait…

Interesting video. But I can’t help but wonder how fast my investment in rendering nodes is going to deflate once I start using 64 bit workstations in the studio. And I can’t wait to have the conversation w/ the IT department about replacing said nodes. Has anybody read anything about how 32bit and 64bit will play w/ each other? I can see why it is such an exciting time for the hardware and software developers. Capital improvement. With that said. Who else is looking forward to a workstation w/ 16 TB of ram?

There should be little or no issues with using 64bit and 32bit workstations/slaves on a network…

-dave

Except that the 64bit machines will be able to work with much larger files which the 32 bit machines would not be able to handle.

Wow

That is quite amazing - this Siggraph is going to be very very interesting.

Are Chaos exhibiting? They don’t appear on the siggraph exhibitors list…

Yeah my concern was making a model so large on my work station(64 bit) that it chokes my renderfarm(32bit). It has to be done some time and I will still take the 16TB or ram.

Theres been no word yet :frowning:

they should make a universal max that works in both 64 and 32bit this way people purchasing a liscence and wanting to load max onto the render farm dont need to purchase two copys (32 and 64) in order to load it on the network depending on which machine is 32 or 64
