Wil there ever be a "lite" version

Hi all,

I started using Enscape for sketchup around 2017 and I loved the product from the start. Being able to open up a sketchup model and walk around it on screen was brilliant and really quick. I run my own small architectural practice and being able to show clients around their proposed extension was great. The speed at which changes could be made was a game changer. I previously used Vray for visualisations and it would take hours to render anything useful.

I have been using Enscape ever since but I am finding it it increasingly frustrating that the development seems to be pushing more and more to photorealism. The price keeps getting higher and higher and I am not really using any of the new features. All I need is a quick and easy real time renderer that allows me to create rough walkthroughs for customers. I don’t have the time to push for high end renders with all the lighting effects etc.

Consequently I feel like I am using about 20% of the product. Is there any chance that a “lite” version might be released at any point? Obviously this would be with reduced features. I feel like there must be a lot of small practices that just need a quick real time render without all the higher end features that are being developed.

Use D5 its free.

I did try D5 and found it a bit unwieldy. In any case my annual license has now renewed automatically so I am stuck with enscape for another year.

I note sketchup has introduced better materials on the latest version. I just need a better way to navigate the model like using the WASD keys in enscape then that would probably suffice.

Have you looked into getting a SpaceMouse? I use the wireless “puck” version for all my 3D applications and I wouldn’t model without it.

That is a good suggestion. I did look at them some time back and forgot they existed. Think I might give it a try. Does it work well with sketchup?

Yes, works great in SketchUp. As I said, I wouldn’t model without it at this point. Didn’t take long for me to get used to and really took a lot of strain off my mouse arm/hand for orbiting, etc. You can navigate Enscape directly with it or set it to camera sync with SketchUp.

There’s also two buttons on the SpaceMouse that you can configure to hotkeys which is handy. I set one to “select none” and the other to set “navigation: fly mode”. Helps quickly reset any errant clicks that might have happened while I am moving about. There’s the larger and more programmable button Pro & Enterprise versions, but I haven’t felt a need to move to those.
