I used to be able to see thumbnails of my Max files in Win XP before getting a new computer.
I’ve searched high and low trying to figure out what went wrong and how to enable this again. Does anyone know how to fix this?
that’s a max problem i guess not a puter problem. In the preferences simply check “Save viewport Thumbnail image”

Yeah was checked. Guess it had something to do with Max 8 not being previously installed and therefore losing the preview capabilities (lack of a registry entry.)
I just wish Discreet’s Area was a a little bit more search engine friendly:
