WIP Pool Skater - Updated with Animation

Hey everyone, I thought I’d share a cool shot from an animation project we’ve been working on. A little post work was done in ps (lens flare, sky halo). The project is nearly complete but is still being worked on, so all C&C’s are welcome. Large image, btw.

WIP Skater

I’m putting this animation into the render queue for this weekend, so hopefully I’ll get to post the animation once it’s done. Thanks in advance

See my next post in this thread for animation links.

that board sure has a snubbed nose and tail. must be a freestyle board. cool render though

Nice one Austin. I like the detail that you put into the texture mapping of the deck and wheels. The pose is also very good, such as the hands and wrist. Looks like an old Vision skateboard. The blunt nose is probably from the spherical distortion. This is definately not a freestyle skate because of the wide trucks. I used to be a pro freestyler, before my 3d hobby took over 15 years ago. I can’t wait to see this in action. Where is the roll in that boosted him this high? Oh, and your coping blocks need to be about 2 feet long instead of the long ones that you have.

Thanks for the replies, and sorry about taking so long to get back. We just wrapped up this project and have posted the animation. It’s about 1 minute long and the music is by the Circle Jerks. It was originally field rendered, but deinterlaced for the web. 100% VRay.

Animation:
Quicktime (22 mB)
Windows Media (13 mB)

Thanks for watching

sweet

Thats pretty damn cool. Was mocap used for the scatters movements? or was it all keyed by hand

p.s. mB should be MB to be technically correct.. hehehehe

Thanks for the responses. The animation was all done by hand… It was pseudo rotoscoped, as we used quite a bit of video reference. I’m just glad I didn’t have to do it

Yeah yeah, MB is correct

animated by hand… wow… thats pretty convincing for hand animation!!

Thats cool Austin!, for some reaon its made me all nostalgic & im off in a world of ‘animal chin’ & the bones brigade…oh those were the days!

its nice,
did you used character studio? cat?

Heh right on, glad we could take you back!

It was animated with character studio. I really don’t know a lot about the animation itself, I just handled the lighting, texturing, rendering and compositing.

Austin,

Great work to all of ya. See if you can get the animators to go back and make him do a layback grind. I was so expecting it…
