Hey all -
This is a job we finished a while ago but just able to show it now. Modeled in Max, rendered in Vray. Made some heavy use of RT during the beta stages - it was a big help with the more complex label elements (which don’t really show much in this version and at this size).
Original render was about 6K. Lots of post work in Photoshop. It was a fairly atmospheric image for the clients (they are only using a fairly small cropped area too), but this version is pushed a bit further for my own portfolio.
Certainly atmospheric, though my only comment is its difficult to see what is actually in focus - I realise you’ve gone for the very shallow depth-of-field ‘macro’ look, but nothing jumps out as being pin sharp. Maybe that was intentional.
Tricky: thanks for the feedback. It was intentional but maybe I went to far. Here’s one with a bit more clarity in the central area - think this works better? I’m not sure. I kinda prefer the more lo-fi look of the first one…
Thanks! The text is displacement using the Vray modifier. It took a while to get the map sorted out but the result was great. It holds up in high res very well - I was surprised actually.
Looks really great. No crits other than the displaced letters in wisers seem to come to a somewhat sharp point (the profile is a triangle) rather than a smooth round bump like I would expect out of a glass bottle - I may be wrong though.
Thanks Pixelperfectg, dlparisi, and pskduke - much appreciated.
dlparisi: you are correct that the logo is a bit sharper than reality - but that is actually one of the key reasons the art director was keen to use CG. The actual logo in glass is usually too soft and rounded to read as well as they like, so by doing it CG we were able to enlarge is slightly and make it a crisper shape. Good eye on the detail though
