Wood material with rounded edges

Hello guys,

I would like to ask for your advice regarding the creation of a wood material for a product made from solid wood (a single piece of timber).
The object has a cubic shape with rounded corners, which means that in some areas the wood texture does not wrap naturally around the curved parts. As a result, there is a visible and sharp transition between the texture on the flat surfaces and the rounded edges. This issue can be clearly seen in the attached photos.

I also need the wood texture to be in very high resolution.
Do you have any suggestions on how to achieve this level of quality?

I would say the only sensible option that i can think of is to make bespoke texture in programs like Substance Painter, or Quixel Mixer. You would have then full control over seams there. Other than that, you could try to utilize Corona triplanar with very small blend radius and see if it would give you the result that you need.

Thank you for your valuable suggestions.
Your feedback is much appreciated.

If you do not have to use existing textures, you could also try with procedural wood. Something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KJelXRxE5E

applied c4d’s “Wood” Surface shader

I appreciate it and am amazed. Would you kindly provide me with a screenshot or explain the steps involved in creating this type of projection?

Thank you, but I couldn’t locate the TAG and WOOD material that were supposed to be on the cube. I believe it is missing.

Thank you. It was very helpful. I got confused since I did not get the correct output in the editor window. It displays the right result after rendering it.

Ah, yes  that indeed, OGL preview looks totaly different.
I jost got used to ‘live’ interactive rendering, since so many features are missing.
