Work in progress...Schlumberger(updated)

Need your comments on this..

texturing needs work, the wood tiles as does the carpet - I think if you got those right it would look a lot better.

What is wrong with the texturing?

I guess he means that you see too much the tiling. The textures could be worked out in pshop based on the original ones…

“Statements of general truth” do not help too much.
You can not say things like “you need to work more on your texturing"or"you gotta improve your illumination” without proposing anything!:
!)That what you think needs improvements
2) Ideas on how to do it.

Well, maybe it should be a bit brighter, overall image. And ok, the counter has a noticable tile, but its a great image. I dont know how to fix those textures unfortunatly :frowning:

tile

i wish i could do more with the tiling..but the image you see is the actual size in real life…that is the maximum width for the wood, and the carpet patern looks as if it is repeted but in actual design it is as you see it.

take that wood texture into photoshop, use an offset filter and you can clone it some to make it alot bigger and remove tiling.

i may sound like a geek right now…but ive not use photoshop to that extent before, all i ve ever done is resize or convert to other format…but ill give it a try…thanks.

ohh, man…you REALLY need to get on the Pshop thing…often times I find it as usefull as max and vray in my production work…I’d say you should get on it as soon as you can…

paul.

i guess in our line of work, the no 1 problem is always about getting the material the clients want and having a good sample of it…usually we all have to make do with what we can find on the net or scan…does anyone generally have a 1 meter scanner to scan the carpet sample we have…i guess we have to make best of what we have..a wood panel size here is about 4 x 8 feet…but i dont think i can find a scanner here that fit…hehehehe..thanks for the comments…check tomorrow for the update.

after a few minutes cloning I removed the obvious seams. check out the comparison:

anyways heres the new texture. Im no pro at photoshop so Im sure there are others that could do a better job, but the point being is that with just a lil effort to learn, you can make your textures go a LONG ways. And if you really want to you can take that new seamless texture and offset IT in photoshop, do more cloning and stuff and it will be an even better texture for close up shots.

percy

This could be completely off base, but unless the wood is a laminate, I don’t
think the grain would all be traveling in the directions you have shown.
If it’s a real plank, then it will likely be running horizonatally longwise on the counter boards.

thank you percy…will do.

Final

Really nice. the lighting is very good

looks great now Reza
but where is all that pink colour bleed coming from?

i guess its from the carpet…i schould have reduce the gi on it…thanks.

i think you still need to do more work on the wood texture…
the grain’s massive at the moment, makes it look like a scale model or something.

carpet tiles always present a problem for me too, they always, er, tile :roll: if you know what i mean…

a quick solution that works quite well for me is to make a new tiled texture in photoshop 4x4 or 6x6 grid with the one tile you’ve got rotated at random throughout the new tiled texture…

that way your tile looks less tiled… :?

i think that made sense! :slight_smile:

::edit::

like this;

i normaly have 4 tiles in PS and quater turn them from each other the way they would be in an office enviroment (sometimes):wink:
