The best wishes to all of you. I know it’s a bit early for this, but I think it’s never too early for some good wishes.
Cheers,
Metin

I think the idea is very cool, no matter it is quite Early…
I will make this TOPIC Stycky, so that everyone else who makes another X-Mass POST Card - to post it here… So, at the end we will have all the WISHES collected together…
Nice Start,
I will try to find some time for my card too…
Best regards,
nikki Candelero
Hey, that’s a great idea, thanks man!
By the way, a shameless plug for people who would like to send the above image as a high-quality printed postcard. You can buy a six-pack of greeting cards with the image at my shop:

alright I’ve also started to work on a holiday card. (my kids of course)

That’s cute! If you’re gonna say this is a rendered scene with photos of your kids, then I want to have a training from you. ![]()
Metin_7,
yes it’s a rendered scene I used snow particles and I cut and pasted my kids in. I did a reflection layer and erased the areas on the kid layer for the snow. pretty simple.
i do one every year.
Hey, I like your site(s). Are you also thinking of making the character items as objects you can hold? or are they to stay as virtual?
Wow, if you’re really serious then I bow for you, as the metal, the solid snow layer and the glass look amazingly real.
Thanks for your compliment about my sites. It’s a dream for me to see my character designs materialized, but it’s very hard to find an interested party that can help me realize that dream.
All the best,
Metin
Metin,
the glass is standard vray glass setup, reflect all the way to white, Fresnel refection on, refract all the way to white and a little bit of green in fog color.
the metal (I thought it looked more like a goldleaf aplication) is a bit map in difuse and a grayscae bitmap in relect and refl. gloss. with Fresnel reflec checked and the IOR set to 10. also a very low bump bitmap. like I said very simple stuff. It comes down to the HDR files lighting quality.

Well, simple or not, the end result looks very convincing, so my respect to you anyway. ![]()

Metin
This is last year’s but it’s one of my favorite Vray renders. ![]()
Ahh yes, remember this scene well, Fran. Looks great.
Definitely looks great, Francis. I assume the blurry refractions took quite a bit of rendertime or did you use some trick?
Cheers,
Metin
Happy Holidays from fOCUS360!
This years card is homage to Escher a collaborative effort between our Imaging Dept., Management and 3D.
PS. Thank you Chaos for giving us the tool to bring our pipeline to a new level, V-Ray has made all the difference. ![]()
Very cool
to maestro Escher! Looks like this has been a lot of work!
Cheerio,
Metin
that’s some of the best integration of people into a 3d scene!! :!: :!:
it all looks very natural.
how did you do it RErender? are they photographs or models?
Glad you like it. ![]()
First, I didn’t do any work on this except model (in my blue cape and top hat
) all the credit goes to my co-workers.
The model was created first and rendered nicely in V-Ray, with our position in the render pre-planned each of us were photographed so that the camera angle and lighting could be matched. It was quite a production.
cool ![]()
heres my contribution…
