Why is the Athlon 64 X2 closing in on being twice as much as the Pentium D? Is the X2 that much better? I get these prices here in Canada from Tigerdirect.ca where a X2 4200 is $778 Can. and a Pentium D 830/3.0 Ghz is $446. From the prices I would go with the Pentium D, as that is alot of memory or a motherboard for $300+. What are the impressions of those that have the X2 or Pentium D?
Ahhh . . . No hyperthreading that explains it! I don’t even understand why Intel would bother if they can’t get Hyperthreading to go with the dual core. Seems kind of pointless to me!
Plus the Pentium D isnt as good as the X2 for one major factor, the 2 cores of the pentium are not really connected in anyway, its like they are just glued together, the only way core-A and core-B can talk to each other is via the FSB, hence the slowness. Whereas the x2 the cores are integrated and are able to talk to each other without leave the actual CPU
