I’m having a problem with xfrog trees with vray sr1… I imported xfrog tree to sketchup like the usual thing everything remapped so its perfectly imported.. so vray sr1 automatically do the materials..but when I did the alpha thing in diffuse it came out like this..and when I rendered it…it came out the same…is this an issue or its just me?
the problem was if I changed the diffuse (bitmap) it changed the mapping of the leaves and its not doing right..before in VrayforSu v1 its doing alright.
i think i know what your talking about, let me know if im off and i dont know about SR1 as i havnt had any free time to work with it and am still using the original, i know sketchup hasnt got the most amazing UVW mapping so i usually import the xfrog trees into another “big boy” 3d application and change bit maps because in those application the mapping is maintained, then import into sketchup should work fine
it looks like that original image has lost its texture, you might need to “point” v-ray to the image again, but u wont be sure of mapping, so better again to change it outside sketchup…
Freeagen thanks. but sr1 was a little bit different animal in linked materials now.. I did the remapping of the texture in “BIGBOYS” but after importing it in sketch and do the texture alpha etc it changed the mapping…
A thing I learned when trying to change a texture of a uvw mapped imported ‘alien’ object (e.g an xfrog tree):
Before you change textures in SU, check the size of the texture in the SU material editor and write down its dimensions.
Then…When you change the texture and it gets screwed up (uvws), go to the SU material editor and change the texture size back to the one you wrote down.
A good chance, the leaves will be back in place.
Worked for me in the past, but I have to admit that I haven’t had much experience using SR1 yet.
The method I described is just a general strategy when changing textures on alien uvw mapped geometry…
thanks biebel..nice try…Actually I did noticed that..I’ve gone thru the process of that…before the size was 1" then became 10". But some of the leaves are not mapping it..
One thing I noticed too..Subsmooth and subdivide are not working well with sr1..
Biebel: Have you tried sr1 with subsmooth I know your using those..thanks,
hey what are those other plugins u have for sketchup… I’ve got subdivide and smooth and push pull but some of the others i’ve never seen… could you give a list of the ones in your menu please?
