Short: Materials, not just layered ones that are controlled by Xpresso don’t update in the IR.(They did in B1 RC1)

Ok, so the IR correctly restarts, but with the unchanged material, is that right?
Restarting of the IR is not the problem. That shows the changes.
Changing settings in the xpresso control while IR is active doesn’t change the material’s appearance.
edit: if you install RC1 you’ll see the difference. It’s very responsive in the IR.
Yes, that’s what I meant. By the way, we probably found the cause, so it will be fixed before the final release of Beta 1 (which will be soon). The cause was a fix for “Worktimer” plugin, which was previously causing constant restarting of IR…
