Yacht interior

My first test image with 1.5! OK, so I’ve been a little slow to install it…

Things I’m really loving about 1.5rc3 are

-DR stops fast when cancelling a render
-IR map with detail enhancement is King!
-double sided material for translucent light shades
-the physical camera
-gamma adjustment in the colour mapping tab
-frame buffer remembers correction curve

Feedback on the image much appreciated.

Rob.

very well done

Even if If I proper have to say something I’d give a more precise GI to get more defined indirect shadows like the chair one and other on little objects.

But is my taste on the interiors and the GI precise shadows cost a lot in therms of rendertime.

excuse my bad english

congratulations

Really nice overall lighting but agree about shadow detail/density. The chair legs are floating

nice though!

Thanks chaps, I’ve just cranked up the IR map settings and am currently re-rendering. Will post the result soon.

Only thing I don’t like is the white lines on the table - they’re a little flat and burnt out looking, maybe add a slight specular map or bump to make it less even? Love the warm spill over the blinds and the patterns in the carpet!

Very Nice Lighting Solution.

MHenry - thanks, just one light - vray did all the hard work!

joconnell - I’ve added a better tex map to the white lines and made the reflection match the black matl. It makes a very subtle difference (especially at this res) but is definately better. The warm overspill was something i was trying to get rid of! Carpet texture was a DS fbmFractal noise.

deflix/pengo - the chair and lamp have now landed!..

Great work !

2 things are bothering me :

- Reflection on the table too strong (too bright, i dunno how to avoid this, maybe you can try lowering the specular)

- I would slightly brighten the overall light in postprod (simple cuve modif), to make the overall space looks brighter, without losing contrast

PS: wonderful wood material, do you mind sharing it ?

Thanks Pixelab.

I guess that reflection on the table is pretty strong. I’ll have a play with the material and see if I can make more subtle.

I quite like the slight darkness in the image - a matter of opinion I suppose.

The wood material is nothing special, just a vray matl with a reflection of 13 (set to fresnel) and reflec glossiness of 0.75 with a map from the Dosch wood collection.

Very impressive… I think the sunlight hitting the table is pretty real…The light coming in is very strong as is the reflection…Perhaps tone it down a little

But over all nice composition.

nice image
would you mind sharing the settings on the second render?

Thanks Eric.

gilicom - thanks, settings as requested…
