zdepth 1.45.70

I have read the posts about zdepth and understand that max doesn’t show it properly but it saves the zdepth channel of the name “alpha” and when I bring it into Fusion there is still no gradient but a white mask like an alpha.

has anyone got 1.45.70 to save out a good zdepth greyscale as viewed in another package?

thanks

When your in Fusion, scroll with your mouse over the white image and check at the bottom if you can see a change of the z value. If so, anything is ok.
There is some little Button below the Viewport (Fusion) wich normalizes the
Z Value in the Viewport.
If you want the z value really transformed into a
mask use a “channel boolean” filter , choose “negative” mode,
switch z-value to RGB… apply a “color gain” after that filter and carefully
decrease it until you see the desired gradient.

cheers

and remember z-depth is stored in rla and rpf files. not normal tgas
