  • possible to disable the automatic .jpg that is saved along with the .exr?

    Hi there,

Wondering if it is possible to disable the .jpg files that are automatically saved along with the .exr's? It's quite a bit of file data transfer that we don't need especially as it seems to save a .jpg of every render element + alpha automatically.

Is there a way of stopping this from happening automatically?

    Thank you.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for sharing this feature request. I understand your point. Currently there are a couple of solutions for your request:
    1. If you select the output file type in your 3D host app before submitting to Chaos Cloud, we'll respect your choice and will generate just the selected file types.
2 Have you tried to use any of our different download options? E.g. you can use the Output File Browser and download just the EXR files. Or use some of the public cloud providers integrations we have and download just the needed files.

Please let me know what you think.

      Hi Vladie,

      Thanks for the reply.

We are submitting from Maya 2020 and always pre-select multichannel exr as the output type before submitting, however, the jpg's are still saved along with the exr.

The output file browser looks interesting but our preferred workflow is to have the completed jobs saved to our Google Drive space automatically. We have individual workstations continuously syncing the GDrive and there doesnt seem to be a way of only saving the chosen file output type? Unless I am mistaken?

      Thank you,
      Ben

        Hi Ben,

You are right about the Google Drive sync process. Thanks for the details, they make sense. I'll discuss the idea with the team and will follow up with you.

        Thanks,

The output file browser is also not a good option when having an animation sequence. That can easily come to like 45 GB (in one of samples). So 45 GB download as zip is overkill.
Maybe the classic cmd string for download files via terminal could be generated instead.
However you really need a download manager app soon.. its so much needed to download multiple jobs and images right after they are complete (and not just after all completed)

            Hi Robert ,

Sorry for the slow reply. You are right that we need a download manager as well. It's in our roadmap. Meanwhile we will also work on improving the situation with the multiple JPG output files that we generate so that you won't need to download them. We'll follow up as soon as we implement a solution.

            Thanks,
            Vladie

              Hello everyone,

Just to let you know that since last week we added an option to enable/disable the generation of the additional JPG output file which comes along with your images rendered in Chaos Cloud. You can edit this option from the Chaos Cloud Options page. For details please check our documentation.
