  • VrayRawDiffuseFilter and VrayRawRefractionFilter not available? 3ds Max

These are listed as unsupported in the docs, is that true?

The former is part of the denoiser elements, so would it show up in there if I add a denoiser element?

The latter I sometimes use to multiply by Z-depth when you have a camera looking through glass and want to add a post-production DoF. A multimatte on the glass material might work instead.

Also, and I'll post here instead of starting another thread. When assets are detected on an older job, I assume the uploader takes in to account the modified date as part of its checks? So if I modify a texture but don't change the name or path it'll be re-uploaded in the new job?

      Hi thomas_bussey,
      1. Unfortunately both render elements are not supported in Chaos Cloud as they are not exported by V-Ray. We have logged stories to add support for both and will keep you updated. There's a workaround but it's a bit cumbersome to implement - you can export the scene manually and edit the exported vrscene file, again manually, to add the needed render elements. Then you can submit the scene through the Chaos Cloud client app standalone interface. Please let me know if you want further details.
      2. If you modify a texture which is already uploaded to Chaos Cloud, we'll upload only the changes, next time you upload a scene which uses it. It doesn't matter whether you change its name, path or the modified date. Chaos Cloud compares each bit of information hence we make sure that no change is missed. We also don't reupload something existing.
Please let me know if you have more questions. I'll be happy to help.

      Bests,

Thanks for the info, one more thing:

Is it possible to change which lights are turned on without re-uploading the scene?

If not I might just render with all lights on and use light mix to edit them after in frame buffer.

          Hi thomas_bussey,

Unfortunately you can't change the lights when cloning a job on Chaos Cloud. It's a good feature request and we'll consider it.

          Thank you,

Export has been added in V-Ray 6.1.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

              Hello everyone,

As Peter has announced, the VrayRawDiffuseFilter and VrayRawRefractionFilter render elements are now supported in Chaos Cloud if you submit your scene to Chaos Cloud from V-Ray 6.1 (or any version which will appear after this Update 1). Please give it a try and let us know whether it works for you.

              Thanks,
