  • Bucket Render vs Progressive Render

New to some of the additional functionality of VRay, and have a question regarding the differences in Bucket vs Progressive render in Chaos Cloud.

    - Is one way quicker than the other? I did an 1100 frame Progressive in about 35 minutes a week or so ago and today a 750 frame bucket render isn't even 200 frames in after 35 minutes (at least according to the status bar)

    - Is Bucket more costly than Progressive? Again the 1100 frame Progressive job ran about 112 credits, Bucket job already says 90 credits used and not close to being done.

Both scenes are the same in terms of output size and quality. In terms of the items themselves I feel the 1100 frame job had more elements overall, but I may be mistaken there.

    Thanks for your assistance!

As you noticed there are discrepancies between the two Image Samplers.

Please take a look at the forum article below - Bucket and Progressive Samplers' Analysis

Keep in mind that the discrepancies depend on scene type, size, and complexity.
