  • AXYZ Anima Support?

Does rendering on the cloud support the anima plugin from AXYZ? If not, is there a way to use their animated people and the cloud at the same time?

    Hi VelvetElvis,

Yes, it is supported. Depending on how many objects you have in your scene and whether they are animated, the export process could be slower and the exported file - big, which would make the whole process sluggish. But other than that it is supported as stated in the documentation.

And one advice by me. Please use the latest publicly available V-Ray build as it has a lot of fixes and improvements, possibly for the Anima plugin support as well.

If you give it a try, please let us know how it goes. There might be things to improve from our side so we'll be grateful if you have feedback for us.

Thanks! Unfortunately I work in an architecture studio and we're slow at getting needed updates. I think we're 2-3 versions behind on Vray at this point but this is good feedback to send to them to let them know we need to be more responsive on our updates if we are using the cloud. I may be able to do some testing in the near future, but this is a quick turn around project so it's probably not the best test case for me. It is an arena project, so there would be a fairly large number of Anima people in it, so it would be a good stress test.

I'm wonder too if we just use Vantage for the Anima people and set that scene up as a composite pass to then comp the people into the main footage rendered from the cloud.

        Hi VelvetElvis,

Chaos Vantage 2 supports Anima models both via vrscenes and via Live link. Also, with render elements now available, you'll be able to render only the characters and composite them over a backplate. However, note that some camera parameters are not supported in Vantage (e.g. lens distortion). If these are used, they can cause a mismatch between the two renders. If not, then you should be able to comp everything fairly straightforward.

Let us know how it goes.

        Best regards,
        Simeon
