  • Animated light sizes do not update

It appears that if I animate the dimensions of a VRay plane light. Chaos Cloud does not recognise the change in size and as a result it just remains its original size.

p.s good to see cloud support now on the main forum

kind of crazy that chaos cloud still has such fundamental bugs after all this time.
its certainly not cheap either and doesnt have much of an edge on usabluity / convenience and has ultra slow support compared to professional farms.

i had to get a refund for credits recently as chaos cloud doenst support keyframed phase in noise maps. i was lucky i saw someone else having the same issue and saved me the pain of working out what was wrong.

why is it missing so many basics? is it a different version of vray or something?

        Hi,

With respect to the support of keyframed noise please install the latest update of V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max and try again. It should be fixed. If it is not, please let me know to report a bug.

As for the missing features, there are discrepancies between the local and cloud rendering because we use V-Ray Standalone in the cloud. There were missing features in V-Ray Standalone when compared to V-Ray for 3ds Max but gradually these were fixed or added. The same goes for the new features - most of them are supported in both versions but sometimes some are delayed. We make sure that the waiting time is minimal. Meanwhile for a quick check-up what is supported or not, please check this documentation article: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...orted+Features

        Thanks,
        Vladie

Chaos Cloud does seem to have a few bugs for sure and they are getting fixed. But on the whole I think Chaos Cloud is great, it fits in with my workflow quite nicely.

Thanks Vladie for the fix on noise maps. I suppose from a customer point of view its just not a great experience to have dispartity between features from local machine and chaos cloud.

I would consider feature partity to be a base requirement when using a cloud render service provided by the people that actually develop the software.

I use cloud services when I outstrip my local capcity or I need to render final versions for delivery, which by proxy is often one of the last steps in a project so surety of it 'just working' is very important so as to meet deadlines. In the event there is a bug by the time you have a response its often too late.

I love the concept of integrated render engine and cloud render but the way its set up is not well implemented, despite what your customer reps say. It gets even more difficult with massive scenes including phoenix and external caches.
This page here https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...orted+Features needs updating to have current versions of plug ins its too generic and needs more info. In some places for instance I see tyflow support but no definative working version is listed here. The noise map issue was also not listed here.

        Thanks
