  • Renders output to exr despite render settings set to 16png

    Hi,
so last time i used cloud, before new year, everything went ok...i had 16bit png, with vfb layers being applied, and individual renderelements being rendered out. Today for some reason all im getting is an Exr and jpeg, with no vfb settings applied. Does this happed if you have lightmix setup and the source layer set to lightmix in the vfb?

    Hi francomanko ,

Can you please share the cloud job URLs with me (for both jobs - the successful and the failed)? They hold the job IDs which I can use to locate the jobs in our admin and compare/investigate them. You can share the URLs in a direct message to me here in the forum if it's more convenient for you.

    Thanks,

Sorry i should have mentioned what software i was using

So, in Maya... If it seems that if i have 'dont save image(ignored in batchmode) ' ticked, then when i submit to the cloud, it ignores the image format set in the render settings and defaults to exr, jpg.

If this option is unticked, it recognizes the set format.

Is this how its meant to be?

      Thanks for help.

            Hey francomanko,

If you can share the original Maya scene with us, that'll be great. We'll check it and advise you.

            Thanks,

              hi,

See if the issue is to do with the hdri.

i couldnt remember where to send the file as the 2meg limit here isnt useful...so heres a link to google drive. Can you let me know when you have the files?

              https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...Ur?usp=sharing

              much appreciated.

                Hi francomanko,

I downloaded the scene. Thanks! I'll follow up once we review it.

                  Hi,

Posting the answer from the support thread for the rest of the users here:

If it seems that if i have 'dont save image(ignored in batchmode) ' ticked....
If this option is unticked, it recognizes the set format.
Is this how its meant to be?
Answer: Currently the option "Don't save image" is also exported along with the scene and it ignores the selected file formats. Note that this option is only ignored when you are performing a Batch rendering in Maya. Nevertheless we logged an issue to improve this and ignore the "Don't save image" option when submitting to Chaos Cloud as well. We'll keep you updated about its progress.

so i got the images out as png, but again no vfb layers applied, its such a mess this!!! It should be what i render locally....is what i get from the cloud...so confused now.
Answer: The Color correction and the Lens effects are applied in the effectResult render element. In the VFB2 the CC and the LE also previewed in the RGB channel and probably that's what confuses you.

                  Best regards,
                  Vladie
