  • Output Naming Conventions

    Hi,

I'm not understanding how to correctly name my output files.

What is the <render element> field under output naming? It's just duplicating the job name in my case...

Sometimes the job name autofills with the name of my Rhino file and other times it's simply "untitled". Why is this?

Also, I always rename the job since I'm outputting multiple views from the same scene (as I imagine most are?). It would be great if when I rename the job, it automatically renames the <name> field under Output naming. Otherwise, the folder which contains the image files is named one thing and the files within are named something else.

Lastly and somewhat unrelated, is it possible to opt for only the image file to be download as opposed to a folder that contains an exr and image?

    Thanks!

    Hi colinpkelly,

The <render element> should be the name of the render elements you add to your scene. Here is a list of available render elements in V-Ray for Rhino. But can you please share a link to the Chaos Cloud job your refer to? It's possible we have a bug that we have to fix. The link to the job will help as it holds the job ID which we can use to locate the job in our admin and investigate it. If it's more convenient for you, you can share the link in a direct message to me here in the forums.

The name of your Rhino scene is suggested by default for the Chaos Cloud job during the Submit step. If it's untitled, maybe you haven't yet saved the scene in Rhino and it's untitled. Again we'd like to investigate for possible issues. Sharing the job URL will help us a lot.

We've logged an issue that renaming a job doesn't rename the output names and will work on it. We'll follow up once we have an update here.

With respect to the ability to download just a certain file from your output, currently the best way is if you have a Google Drive account, add it to your Chaos Cloud account and save the job output to Google Drive. Then you can download locally just the file you need. Also if the output is bigger than 100 MB, there's an additional step in Chaos Cloud while downloading your output which asks you which file you want along side a number of other download options.

    Best regards,
