  • Local vs cloud bump map totally different - bug?

I am having issues with chaos cloud rendering differently to the local render.
It seems maybe the bump map is being interpreted differently over a certain section of frames

When the scene starts the camera is wider, the frames look ok but when the camera tracks into the subject, the bump map seems to go crazy. Not sure what's happening.
    * I am assuming its a bump map thing...maybe its isnt...The mat is very simple just vray std with diffuse texture with a bump

See attached for a comparison of the same frame.
Frames 30 - 300 seems to be affected, after that 300-850 seems fine.

    Hi cam_910,

We'll reply to you in the ticket you've sent us. But I'll repost the resolution here if others have similar issues.

      Hi cam_910,

I'm reposting the answer of my colleague from the support thread here as well.

We detected that the issue comes from animated FFD 3x3x3 modifier that distorted the geometry in the frames before the first set keyframe. This only happens when exporting and rendering animation in V-Ray Standalone/Chaos Cloud. In your case, the distortion becomes visible around frame 100 and continues until frame 300. The issue is logged in our internal bug-tracking system as VMAX-10736.

As a workaround, if you remove the animation from these objects and submit the first 300 frames they should be rendered as expected.

We have refunded to your account the credits spent for the frames in question. Please let us know if you have more questions.

      Bests,
