Hi, I'm trying to render a small animation in Cloud, but the Phoenix element (the liquid), is not visible. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Hey michael_medvedi,
Can you let us know the exact Cloud/Phoenix and host app versions along with the JobID number? Here's how you can find that.
Additionally, if all is up to date, do share a scene with the cache files through our contact form so we can test it in our environment. Much appreciated!Nikoleta Garkova | chaos.com

Thanks michael_medvedi;
Would it be possible to send us the scene (make sure the cache files are included as well) so we can test? You can forward it through here https://www.chaosgroup.com/help/cont.../scene#options, just make sure to mention this thread (or my name) in the email.Nikoleta Garkova | chaos.com

Hi there and sorry to hear you've experienced an issue. As far as I am aware, we didn't receive additional info from michael_medvedi, while Magnum_design's issue was gone once he resubmitted the job (please correct me if I'm wrong). That being said, we might schedule a remote session to investigate what's happening on your end if you still keep hitting the same issue, lorenzo_spinola. I've followed up on a PM so we can arrange things.Nikoleta Garkova | chaos.com

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring with the others having this issue. I just tried to submit a render to the cloud with a PhoenixFD liquid and the whole scene renders without the liquid. I tested the vrscene on my local machine using VRay Standalone and it renders the liquid just fine.
To make things even more complicated, I did a test render a few weeks ago using another scene that has liquid, and it worked just fine.
This is a bit troublesome, as I have a deadline coming up and this was all working just fine before...
It would be really nice if you'd post updates on the solutions to these problems posted on the forums. I've run across dozens threads while looking up answers to the other issues I've had, only find the thread terminated with "Please send us your scene and we'll look into it". That's not very helpful for people trying to look things up on google.

Hi Chuck,
Sometimes the troubleshooting and the consequent communication is moving from the frum to the support ticketing service and this leaves the forum thread unupdated. This is our mistake and we definitely need to improve here. Thank you for pointing that out.
Regarding the missing Phoenix fluid in the Cloud renderings, I have sent you a reply this morning in ticket #3938. Generally, I need more details as thе problem seems to be specific to the settings used in the scene. A scene file is always helpful as we are usually able to find the issue faster that way and also start working on the bug fix or a workaround if possible.

Please note that very often users discontinue the communication when we request a scene or additional information needed to troubleshoot the issue. That's why it may look like the communication is moved to another place and the answer is not posted on the forums but in most cases, we do not receive the requested data.
We are also trying to cover all the common topics/issues that one may face in our Documentation and KnowledgeBase systems. We'll see what we can do about this issue, it's already reported by several users so it's definitely something that deserves more attention.Last edited by Svetlozar Draganov; 13-09-2021, 07:16 AM.

We found a problem with the Timeline Origin parameter for the Cloud renderings and we are investigating right now.Last edited by tashko.zashev; 14-09-2021, 05:53 AM.

Just wanted to give an update on what's been going on behind the scenes here. Tashko has indeed been on top of this and has been very helpful. It appears the issue has been found and their engineers are working on a fix, so at least we know the problem is being addressed.
Apparently, the problem occurs whenever you try to re-time a simulation by using the Timeline Origin field of the Input rollout on the Liquid Simulation. This explains why I was able to successfully render fluid in another scene where the fluid had been simulated at frame 0.
In my case, I have a master scene file where several different animations take place, including a fluid simulation at the end. I split the animation segments up into different scenes where I could edit them and then reassemble them in the master scene. I simulated the fluid starting at frame 0 and then brought the cache files over to the master scene file and used the Timeline Origin field to offset the cache so that it would start on the correct frame. Everything worked fine in Max and in VRay Standalone, but the fluid disappeared on the cloud render.
Thankfully, Tashko recommended a temporary workaround that might help anyone else having this issue. You can save out the portion of your scene containing the fluid simulation as a separate scene so the timeline starts at 0. As long as the Timeline Origin doesn't need to be used, it should work just fine. He also mentioned that you can simply rename the cache files so that they start at the desired frame.
I believe this only affects scenes where the cache is being loaded on a different frame than it was originally simulated on. So, if your cache naturally starts at 35 and not 0, then you shouldn't see the issue.
Hopefully, that will help save a few credits for anyone else trying to do something similar.
