  • Chaos Cloud not Starting Browser

I was rendering with the Chaos Cloud fine on Tuesday, then on Wednesday it suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. Whenever I hit the cloud render button, it sends a render command to Rhino, but it doesn't start my Google Chrome browser anymore. Production renders work fine. It seems like the Cloud Render just can't connect to my browser for some reason.

I am using VRay 5 for Rhino 6.

I attempted updating my Vray to see if that would solve the problem, however it did not.

    Hey ryan_daley,

Can you let us know if this is happening only with a particular project? Does the same apply even with an empty one?

Have you made any changes recently, and can you make sure you are using the latest Chaos Cloud client?

Looks like you're using the latest client version, have you tried re-installing? When was it last working? Moreover, have you tried submitting a job manually just to see if that works as expected? - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ine)vcloud_cli

          Hi Nikoleta!

Yes, i tried re-installing the Chaos clound client app, it didnt work.
I cannot say when it worked last, as it was a while back.
It stopped working when It prompted for a client app update inside of Maya, and once I updated it, it stopped launching Web browser.

The command line threw error "ccloud: unknown flag: --scenefile"

I ran the Chaos cloud client app from start menu program, it opened the batch interface stating "ccloud: listening on"
and opened the browser with a prompt to select Vrscene file. I submitted the job this way, and the job successfully finished.

Kindly let me know why Client app inside of Maya is not launching the browser. Thank you!

            Hi sivaraamakrishnan_gurusamymuthupandian ,

Can you please let us know which version of the V-Ray for Maya plugin you have installed? We'd like to check the Chaos Cloud integration in this version and will follow up with you.

            Thanks,
            Vladie

I just want to help with I could here. The command line error is because you've used "--scenefile" instead of "--sceneFile" when writing the line. Notice that in the latter "F" is capital. Flags are case sensitive.

Why Maya itself would not start the web browser I am not sure. One reason may be because some time ago there was a "Direct Submit" option added to Maya:

Name:	maya-direct-submit.png
Views:	422
Size:	99.7 KB
ID:	1122404

It is disabled for me but could be enabled with the button outlined above. When it is enabled no browser tab will be opened. Instead, Cloud submission will happen via this Maya UI and no browser will be involved. One could disable the direct submit and then a browser tab will be opened as before during Cloud submission. The button on the screenshot above will say "Disable Direct Submit Options" if it has been previously enabled.
