  • Export to chaos cloud *super* slow

Why is this process so unbelievably slow?

Over the past few years I am typically waiting about an hour for a scene to export ready for rendering on chaos cloud. Is it just me, or does everyone else have this issue?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Depending on the scene, the export which precedes the Chaos Cloud submit step indeed can be a lengthy process. Together with the V-Ray team we have planned time in the short-term roadmap to profile the export of a .vrscene and depending on the results possibly improve it. Meanwhile we are also evaluating other enhancements which we can do to improve the users' workflow.

Can you please share an example scene from your 3D host app which we can use for reproducing the slow export while profiling it? Any example like that will give us a better picture what happens and how we can possibly improve it. If it's more convenient for you, please reach out to me in a Direct Message for sharing the scene.

    Thank you,

      Hi Vladie,

I ended up cancelling it after two hours of waiting. It's really bad.

Is it because I am using Anima? Are there any things I can do to speed this process up?

I will send a message so I can share the scene.

        Hi Chris,

Anima shouldn't be the problem. If the scene is an animation, you can separate it in batches. Though the overall time won't be shorter, at least you are lowering the chances of the Exporter to crash and lose all the progress and waiting time. Also this way you'll get results from rendering in Chaos Cloud faster.

Please share an example scene whenever it's convenient for you. This will help!

        Thanks,

          Hi Vladie,

I have sent you a message with files attached.

Hopefully you'll be able to let me know what it is that is causing the issue. Do you need me to open a support ticket at all?

            Hi,

I can confirm that this is happening with some scenes that I sent to Chaos Cloud.
Usually, the long export time happens when sending a scene with multiple multiscatter objects.
When I hide or disable those multiscatter objects then the export time is fast.

Hope that this can help finding the problem with long time .vrscne export.

            Thanks,
            Victor
