  • Cloud Upload times

    Hello,

Is there anything that can be done to optimize upload ("Analyzing Scene") times on upload when there is extensive used of vrscenes (especially in use of a forest/dense planting).

In a sample test, if I have about 1,500 instances of a small plant as a vrscene (which itself is a 2.3mb file) the analyzing scene will take about 2.25 minutes to process "Analyzing Scene" before I am taken to the window to choose project names, etc, and submit the job. More objects results in higher analyzing time. Increase the number of objects to 4,000 and the process time goes up to around 5minutes.

This only seems to be an issue with Vrscenes. If I use a Vrmesh version of the same plant the upload time is basically instantaneous.

Likewise if I scatter an asset from the cosmos and dial up the number of arrayed objects to 15,000 it will analyze the scene basically instantly.

I do like the use of vrmeshes when taking assets from 3ds max as it preserves all the material settings that I don't need to try and recreate them. However long analyzing times can be prohibitive.

For reference I am using V-ray 5 for SketchUp with the latest version of the chaos cloud.

    Hi bbergem ,

Currently we are working optimizations of the file format that we use to submit the scene and its assets to Chaos Cloud. This will optimize and make the whole submit process faster including in your case. We plan one more optimization but it's not yet started.

Nevertheless if you can share a scene with us which reproduces the issue, that'll help a lot. You can do this in a direct message here in the forum.

    Thanks,
