  • standalone "preview" for cloud, 2.5x slower than max render

as title.. ive got a scene that renders in 1 minute a frame in max. i have an urgent need to offload my rendering to "the cloud" this week... i tested the scene using the "preview" feature... no errors, looks identical, but renders in 2 mins 30 a frame.

    what gives?

the scene is unusual in that it has no lights and no gi.. its all self iluminated geometry and vraytoon outlines.

any obvious reason why its slower and any easy fixes?

ive opened a support ticket, with scene attached. but accidentally put it at "normal" priority instead of "urgent"

    this is quite urgent!

just to confuse things i tried a scene from another job, abstract glowing lines from tyflow... renders in 2m 50 in max.... 32 seconds in standalone...

big differences considering they look the same in both cases. .

hmm.. appears to be related to the vraytoon atmospheric effect...

if i disable that in the scene, max render drops to 16 seconds, standalone to 9 seconds!

      so.. does standalone hate vraytoon?

something i can optimise? i cant remove it from the scene..

        Hello there,

After our internal investigation, we reported that behavior in our internal system as a bug with the number VMAX-12574.
So our Dev team will continue investigating on our side and searching for what could cause it.

Thank you for the provided files and information, and excuse us for the inconvenience.
