  • Black spots and lines in over-bright areas (also not limited to Chaos Cloud) - Vray for Modo

    Hi all,

As there is no forum space for Vray for Modo anymore, I'm placing this here because I use the cloud to render the bigger scenes.

    The following problem occurs:

    (result from chaos cloud)

Also happens when I render locally or in real time:
Tried to reduce the lighting, but chrome and other materials with a bright highlight give the same result:

    (result of RT)

I tried using brute force instead of irradiance map, play with light evaluation modes, etc. Nothing seems to work.
    But then...

The reflection glossiness is at 0.8. Lowering that number fixes it, but then the material is not very chrome anymore. But a glossiness of 1.0 fixes the issue mostly as well, but then it's a bit too chrome.

    Glossiness 0.5
(between 0.9 and 0.5 the issue is most visible.)

Any way to get the 0.8 glossiness to work?
