  • "Follow mouse" feature

    Hello everyone,

We need your help. Maybe some of you are familiar with the "Follow mouse" feature in V-Ray. Its description goes like this:
Renders the closest bucket found to the mouse pointer, when using the bucket image sampler. If the progressive sampler is used, V-Ray samples the closest pixels to the mouse pointer.
Currently we are discussing adding it to the Chaos Cloud roadmap. But before doing that we'd like to ask you for your opinion:
    1. As this feature is generally helping with work in progress and drafts to quickly see how important parts of the scene are rendering, do you expect to use it frequently in Chaos Cloud as well?
    2. If you are going to use the Follow mouse feature in Chaos Cloud, what is the better behavior for you:
      • Point the mouse to a particular area and immediately start rendering there
      • Or point and click with the mouse to a particular area where you want to start rendering
Looking forward to receiving your answers as they'll help us build a feature which will help you even more.

    Best regards,
    Vladie

    Hi,

I am excited to see this feature on Chaos Cloud, as it would certainly help whilst rendering. Since we can prioritise areas we want to see first and make sure that they look OK. Rather than potentially wasting time and cost waiting for Chaos Cloud to get to that area on its own. Whilst we endeavour to check every aspect of a render before uploading to the cloud, it gives us the ability to have another point of checking.

I often find with just by pointing the mouse, it is easy to accidently move the mouse without wishing to do so, which changes the area it is rendering. Therefore point and click would be a safer option.
