  • here fishy fishy

I had some spare time and spent it on redesigning my good old fishy (see avatar).

Here's the new one. It's orange because I can't get the translucent effect to go from red to yellow... You might not notice but even the teeth are translucent.

Here's the old one (which already was a redesign of the very first version ) From my vray demo days as you can see.

    Tell me what you think!

wow, what a waste of computer rendertime, I love it! very cute! Sometimes its so much fun creating useless fun stuff.

      Hehe, it is

But I don't see it as completely useless, I was testing translucency!

        Man that looks great.

Really odd though! I was just about to reply in another thread that you should rerender that little guy with all your new found knowledge

Excellent! I really like the translucency effects, but I find the HDRI reflection a bit distracting. A studio light setup would complement this rendering more I think.

                  Thanks!

Gijs: I also tried with studio setup, but it was harder than I thought to get the reflections nice on both the body and the fins. The body is almost a sphere, which makes even the largest plane reflection look small.

Jujubee: I used it a lot, it used to be some kind of 'mascotte' on my old portfolio site when I was still studying. I didn't want to use it on a professional level though. Maybe when I learn about animating things like this with bones etc I will pick him up again
