After working, day and night for a must have final before Thanksgiving things went silent. A month of no response to emails and of course, no final payment, I got a list of changes which included many new design ideas. I had a heart to heart with this developer and brought him to the contract where it says:
- when a deadline has been met any changes after are per hour
- changes to the initial design are charged per hour
- any changes after the two color revisions will be charged per hour
He violated all three and still seems to be confused. I think this is a case of the developer's client approving the architect's plans but is adding things during construction. I am sure the builder is continuing to add cost with change orders and I am not sure why people can't connect these dots and understand that so do I. Maybe they think changing the roof pitch is a click of the button.
Oh well, here is an update. They moved the camera because with their first camera placement it made the house look flat, which is what I initially told them would happen.
