A new project for a new client.
35 million polygons plus render instances, near 300 area lights, all custom models except a couple laser scans and a couple objects bought online. Software used Cinema4d, Vray, FormZ, Marvelous Designer and PS.
Hope you like it, constructive critics very appreciated

You're a braver man than I... i'd run and hide from that brief! it's great work, you really did the detail required justice. How long did it take?

the sofa materials are spot on - anisotropy or another method?

Nice job. Like the work on fabrics. But 300 Area Lights? Do you know that you can melt it down in one mesh and only have one?

One week, one person. Yes I've used several textures for anisotropy

            Thanks Robert
I'm quite sure is not possible to melt all the lights in one mesh in Cinema4d, we are only able to melt several geometry in to a single object to be used inside an area light in mesh mode. That being said generally this is a bad idea for several reason, mesh lights are not optimized like simple area so it will be slower to render, adaptive lighiting does a great job when using hundreds or thousand lights but works only using area(I'm not sure if works using mesh light as well), and different light sources usually have different intensities, different temperatures and different distribution of the light in real world(I've used at least 5 different photometric intensity for chandeliers, table lamps, ceiling spot, ledstripes ecc) using a single light you won't be able to differentiate the intensities, temperatures or directional parameters when needed. Even if it was possible to merge everything in one light without any shortcoming, when using adaptive lighting basically Vray does't care anymore how much lights you use, years ago this would be a nightmare to render, now I was able to render in 4K in about 2/3h using modest hardware(5000Cinebench points).

What a stunning job, sirio (as allways). I am deeply impressed. BTW: I am thinking of buying your shaders. Will you support the comming vray versions?

                  Thanks!
our shaders should work fine on 3.7(basically it's the same as 3.6), likely also Vray Next but I can't be 100% sure until I test it

I assume if shader work with 3.6 they will work on 3.7 too but Ive not tested yet, if you want to be sure about compatibility with 3.7 let me know and I can give you a couple shaders to test

Thanks, Sirio, but I was in your store and bought the shader collection. So I can test all the shaders on WE. One question: Will I get a seperate invoice for my purchase, because I only got a mail with the download link.

Well, maybe not one, but at least many.. its just simpler to manage.. but yeah copy polygons from one mesh to the other is kind of tricky in C4D.
But no, it doesn`t render slower or less good. I do that all the time in non-C4D versions. And I have tons of mesh in my mesh lights. Found it always easier to deal with a bunch just a few lights, maybe a few more instances etc.
