  • Titan RTX

quite a beastly new card. i assume , like the 2080 TI, that memory sharing will work here? so approaching 48GB gpu ram.. not bad!

price is of course, ridiculous. seems like everything high-end hardware related, is sliding up the price scale these days. i remember when a top gaming gpu might cost you £400 and be considered overpriced.
granted, capabilities have grown rather a lot. but still..

Yes, NVLINK will work just like on the 2080,2080ti,RTX 5000/6000/8000.

If you need the memory then Titan is the way to go I guess .But for two titans one could buy four 2080tis. So roughly twice the rendering power (except the 15% gain for each titan), but only half the memory. Too bad they are so expensive . Would be a no Brainer to get if the price would be 500 bucks less or so.

It is not easy to fit 4 of these in your case. With FE cards, only the lowermost card will be cooled properly and the 3 other cards will thermal throttle. You will lose a lot of performance
You will need Blower style cards, which are not easy to find, and quite expensive. Even with these cards, you gonna need very good airflow in your case.
Most of the 3rd party cards (with good cooling)from Asus, MSI..etc are 3 slots or more, so you will not be able to fit these on your Mobo..
2 RTX titan cards are more attractive, considering the more VRAM as well

I saw Tomasz from dabarti put 4 cards in one machine . But he's also air conditioning the whole room to 24°. One could also buy a case just for the cards and connect them to the workstation.. The cases are expensive though ...
The ram of the titans is very nice. It's a hell of a price just for ram though as the speed gain is somewhat neglectable.

Will Vray use the capabilities (raytracing cores) of the RTX anytime in the near future?

There is no driver support for RT Cores with CUDA yet, so it is hard to say. Drivers currently support RT Core only for game APIs like DirectX.
Once we have such, we will know better.

in that case how are you testing it? i believe ive seen demos of an internal build using the RT cores? or did i imagine it?
