I certainly wouldnt use it at the moment for a first bounce but as second and saved as Lightcache i feel it adds a little something extra to me renders.. so thumbs from me.
The top of the wall where the trusses hit the border of the hall and the patio area. There were problems of the light-leak sort due to the high contrast in lighting and the thickness of the upper wall. If I posted the uncorrected render you would see that the hall originally is almost black and the exterior is just about as bright as you see it now.
Hope it hasn't caused any confusion but my example you're seeing is with corrections outlined in this thread...
Just let PPT run on part of a current job the other day. My first time playing with it. I think it has real potential for finals. Definitely warrants more testing.
That was the first thing that i thought of....how much faster it is to check DOF with PPT. Just lower the samples down and you can still get a good idea how its going to look through the grain.
Bratwurst did you use a HDRI map to light the scene, and enviroment.
The test was done with a tiny part from a larger project with a bitmap environment and a simple gradient for illumination in the env. override slot. No HDR maps or lights used. The floor is slightly blue coloured glas with glossy refraction. Light cache and PPT settings to default xpt subdivs cranked up to 10000.
I looked all over ! First bounce, second bounce...can't find it- how do I enable the new PPT option ? Apologies for the "newbie" question 1.46.15 on 3dsmax 6
