True, however, we have to use common sense. 3%-5% is how much is usually spent on marketing. Now, that might include a lot (website...), but renderings are a big part of it. It shouldn't be a game of as cheap as I can get. Nobody wins!

Your fee is your fee regardless of how much money the client allocate for marketing...if one is willing to negotiate it is another thing., if you are one man show charging 1200-2000 per view is good but if you have a company with employees those number may not work...Projects where a condo cost 10-30 Million spending 5K per view by a high-end company make sense because they are producing more than a rendering, the detail is insane (materials, modeling,etc.)... They are capturing a lifestyle to sell. (many of those firms are here in this forum)..... Famous Architects want top-notch renderings by those firms because they are showing their design and brand. The rest of us deal with clients are looking for very good renderings but they cannot afford excellent renderings with a price tag, and the ones they want to pay peanuts, or they are ok with acceptable renderings. The clients come to you, and you filter them, it's up to you to deal with them and the consequences of your good or bad judgment.

Interesting work - it definitely has a distinctive feel and I remember your work on here from years ago. I feel like we may both be constrained by the market we are in - I mean that what constitutes good design is what is popular and that can vary around the world greatly because the work is so subjective. I feel like you are doing a great job with the 3D end of things - a lot more effort goes into yours than what I'm doing to be honest

I just got an enquiry asking me provide autoCAD floor plan, ceiling plan, electrical and etc + 2d elevation plan for whole house + 3d visual still image + site visit during the construction period, try guess how much they offer me for this kind of jobBobby Parker

by the way, when I had access to numbers before 2008 developers in Minneapolis budgeted 2K per unit for Marketing and the architect firm was charging 5K per unit..( average range was between 80-150 units) .... The typical rendering package was 3-5 views of the most expensive unit, 1-2 of the most common unit, 1-2 exterior images and maybe 2-3 of the common areas (lobby, Spa/gym, party room)...so, it was nothing of the overall budget. and they were paying back then around 800-1000 per image

That was when the market tanked, so archviz could have been strong then, since sometimes when the market is weak the budgets go up. Has it gone up or down since then, who knows? Last year I have had archviz illustrators from the cities call me asking me about my rates, saying that they can't get anything for their work and the work has dried up because all the architects are using lumion. I haven't seen a decline, but I get work from around the globe and I only have a couple of clients from MN. $800-$1000 per image for an average project sounds okay. I mean, it depends on the project.Bobby Parker

Monday I had a call from a lady who loved my work. I was on her short list and she sent me a link to another place that was cheaper and nearly as good, as she said. I went to the site and this company had like 15 employees, from marketing to accounting and of course illustrators. There were a couple licensed architects, too. I was around $1200 for one image and they were about 1/2, but how in the world can a company, with a payroll like that, survive? They would need many of these projects a day, every day, to break even. They might get projects with many images, but personally, I don’t see those projects. I get 1-3 images per project.Bobby Parker

There are boutique companies and Walmart.
I have a Lumion license and for exteriors is great, super fast and a lot of libraries but like any software you could find super realistic renderings and very mediocre renderings as well.... It works great as well for animations.
