Worth Upgrading Dual 970s to a RTX 2080 / 970?

I have a mobile workstation that's limited in PCI space to only two gpus. Currently I'm running two 970s. Is it worth upgrading one of the 970s for a 2080 / 970 combo or is this just going to bottleneck at 4gb VRAM?

It will be bottlenecked by the 4GB RAM if you want both of the GPUs for rendering.
You can use the 970 just for display and the 2080 for rendering. Than it would be using 8GBs for rendering.

That's what I figured. I think I'll instead opt for a 970 as GUI and my old Titan X 12GB as my processing card. I figure the memory will be a massive improvement as I'm doing lots of high resolution work, and performance-wise the Titan X seems equivalent to 2.5 970s.
