  • Monster Project 2019

It's my fifth year taking part in the brilliant Monster Project (https://themonsterproject.org/), where 134 school kid's drawings are reimagined by artists from all around the world.

    This is Sadie's original monster

    And my version

Not a huge amount of technical stuff to go into, the fur is Ornatrix and once again V-Ray NEXT's hair shader worked like a dream. I had hoped to use Phoenix FD to simulate some plumes of dust but I had to fit this in and around paying jobs, so just ran out of time

Check out this year's gallery to see all 134 monsters! https://themonsterproject.org/monstergallery2019

It's a pleasure to see every year this Project
You (artists) are very good translating the child imagination in something more detailed!!

      Keep going on this!

Looking to the images I have a question (that probably I've already done or someone else did already): did you (or the other artists) asked some further details to the children? or is it a personal artistic touch?
Some of them, like the police car, is really not easy to "understand"... for example.

It's entirely down to the artist to interpret the kid's drawing, so any extra details added are usually the artist either taking license or studying the kids drawing a lot for clues!

I made a very short 'behind the scenes' video if anyone's interested in the process (missing quite a few steps!)

Fantastic...you didi a great job with interpretation...some kids drawings were quite difficult to "translate".

Jesus Christ, haha, between paying jobs he says. It would take me an age to even draw these, let alone in 3D. Great job.
