Dodge Viper 2008 WIP

Hey guys,

Started prepping the Dodge Viper ACR 2008 (my favourite car as a kid). I want to make it look very driven, very weather beaten, but still able to look beautiful. Ill post progress stuff as I go. Early days yet still. Need to do some panel to panel weathering with dirt maps, add more dings and maybe some sun damage. Looks very uniform dirty, because currently it is! Could be a good excuse to finally learn Substance Painter.

model is looking pretty tasty Yeah i really need to have another crack at painter, i liked the workflow of it, but always found it really blurry when painting, even with higher res

Looks good so far! Is it based on the CAD data FCA gave out around 2008/2009?

Yeh I think so. I dont remember exactly where it came from, but I remember it being freely available. It came with all sorts of reference photos and texures, so someone had done a decent job putting it together. I had to borrow some more detailed brakes from another CAD sports car file, but I hope thats not obvious in the end.

The data was provided by Chrysler themselves, as part of a render challenge. They also gave away a Jeep Wrangler and the hideous Chrysler Sebring Convertible. They all came complete with textures, reference material, Excel-Sheets for build options, HDRi and so on.

LOL....I simply had to search that car and they made loads of different models of them.
You said it was hideous but which one?! They're all utterly horrible

It was the JS model, built from 2006-2010. I think the platform was shared with some Mitsubishi.

Rims update on the Viper. Took the callipers from another CAD model, so hopefully its not too obvious. Need to add the Viper text. some geo issues to fix, and more shader variation. The scratch texture is quite clearly tiling everywhere.

Headlights, carbon, rubber parts etc. I need to do a second round of detailing on some of these parts. Fix some tri-planar / UV seams and add wear to some of the shaders. The carbon is too clean for example.

Looks great. Did you try VrScans? They have a great carbon sample in there.
Head- and foglights look very nice!
I would add a primer (that black dotted print) to the windows

Some update test shots. Still got some detailing to do, but Im about ready to start blocking out proper shots. Going to try for full cg backgrounds which is something I havnt done a lot of recently, so I think that part will actually be the hardest bit.
