I enjoyed this one. The client was a little hyper, but it all came together nicely.

There are two trees that flank the path to the front door, those trees? Those are there and they wanted me to show it how it is.Bobby Parker

This client was really weird about trees. I purchased the species, but she kept on sending me photos of the actual trees. She would write, "no, exactly like the photo". I kept explaining that I would be happy to quote custom modeling of trees or I find something close. I was hoping she didn't opt for custom trees because I have no clue how to use my GrowFX, which brings me to the question, is anybody here proficient at it? What would it cost to have a custom tree modeled? What is the learning curve of GrowFx? This is one of the trees she insisted on having, which are the ones I have flanking the sidewalk to the door.

This looks like young birch tree, isn't it?
Not hard to do. GrowFx is not that hard to learn, but if you want something more complex - that's where you should use trial and error method, because there are no good tutorials for that, and help section just explains functions - without insights. Custom trees are from $200 and up.Available for remote work.

Wow that is a little strange - what's she selling, the house or the tree?
It's quite straightforward to model (no GrowFX) if you wanted to do it yourself (if you have the time that is). Simply loft the main trunks which effectively create the noticeable shape - then you can
detach the stem and leaf geometry from the one you bought to place where necessary to fill it out. Should end up pretty close.
I just did the trunks and that took very little time, so you could most likely do this one in a couple of hours-ish

I don't know... once I told her I could quote for custom modeling of the tree she stopped asking (after the fourth time).Available for remote work.

Very weird request.
In the end comping in the photo of the tree would probably be the way to go, but that brings up a rats tail of problems. Lots of Photoshop work to make it blend it properly...and when another angles comes in it is all for nothing.Check out my tutorials, assets, free samples and weekly newsletter:

If there's a market for specific trees here then I'd consider an intermittent short license.Bobby Parker
