Here's a personal project of mine, created in vray next, doing ice was quite challenging, but I somehow managed to make it look like I wanted it to.
    hope you like it! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/RYGLNy

This is spectacular, nice one! well balanced SSS.

Don't feel bad: it took a team of three (two lighters, one comper) over two months to nail the look of the Canyon for Oblivion (2013)...
And if we had another month, we'd have used it. ^^
EDIT: which was based on Iceland references.

always takes longer when you have multiple people telling you how it should look, and when those looks keep changing

            I love this. Excellent. Plus...excellent
I would love to see the reference for the almost glowing green 'focus' of the image.
If we had an 'image of the month'....or even year, on this forum, then this would get my vote, simply due to its quality of difference.
I very much like the birds, and the varying mblur they exhibit. Maybe stock stuff but they absolutely add to the ambience.
Very natural and evocative overall and...well, I would personally love to have this to have on my wall as a work.
The only criticism I have is the foreground bit of ice which I could do without, as it looks a little pasted on, if you don't mind me saying so

I used world machine, I don't have quadspinner or gaea, but I think I will try and use them next time, as they look very tempting.

Thank you! I agree about the FG, it's either not close enough or too close imo, I guess if I had more ice pieces it would tie things together in a better way The birds are a really simple model, but because they have more translucency on the edge of the wings, I guess it makes quite a big difference

We had an amazing art department: the matte painters were top notch, they made following their concepts a breeze, and even helped out with the layout and texturing, go figure...

Amazing piece of work !!! It is so calm and well balanced image it makes me relaxed by looking at it Thanks for sharing it! ^Lele^ That's really cool you worked on that movie, I loved the effects and even the story. what was your role there may I ask? From what I know Christopher Nichols also worked on that movie (as a lighter if I am not wrong).

Nichols was a lighting supervisor at DD Venice on this one.
