  • Need sharp edges -

I am struggling to get good sharp edges on the canopy over the bed also spots on the ceiling - I will be animating this scene so setting need to be kept fairly low - I think it has something to do with qmc in second bounce slot - just cant figure it out - Thanks guys - deadline looming -

You need more hemispheric subdivs to reduce the splotches.

Thanks Vlado - Anything I could do to also speed up render times? I know this is a pretty complex model - but I am going to need to animate it and need decenty render times -Thanks again

I bumped hemispheric subdivs up to 60 to see if it would get better and I had the almost exactly the same results - Should I go higher?

        Thanks

If you are using a vray light try bumping up the subdivisions, especially if you are using "store with irradiance map" then bump it way up to 24 or 32.

That was one of the first things I tried - I have had that problem before - I have notice if I use light cache in the second bounce it looks alot better - but I would need to rework the scene because it is way over saturated with the switch to light cache

              Hi

I would change your sample lookup method to Overlapping..
your min max rate to -4 -2...
try increasing your Distance threshold so more samples are taken in those gaps..
Put the face/level coef up to 1 ..
and try Adaptive subdiv for your AA method..

              See if that helps

              Oh and desaturate the Nurse..
              ..

same results unfortuantely - not sure what is up with these rough edges - cranked the hemispheres - and nothing - I feel I watch my monitor for to ong between renders -

If you do want to use light cache you might try lowering the saturation in the GI rollout to .3 to.5

Have you got your lights set to "store with irradiance map"?
If so try taking this off and having the subdivs at around 20

Better to use -4/-2 min/max and 50(60) / 25 for H.sub/Interp.Samples. I think u could try LightCache instead of QMC as Secondary GI.

Another problem could be in QMC sampler.

If you say things look overexposed with lightcache maybee that will help because IMHO it looks slightly too dark at the moment.

if natty's points dont fix it, Id agree its probably the QMC sampler settings. the fix is probably going to result in slower render times though

If I were you I would strip down the scene replace the bed etc with boxes and post it to see if anyone can render it out without the splotches and quickly. The answer could be alot closer than we think.

                            Cheers,
                            Tom

How have you modeled that ceiling ... looks like that could be the problem.
