First work since the shutdown hit in mid-march.

Two side by side "shotgun" type mountain houses. The developer needs 1 rendering for each house. I may also do a view from the north/uphill/back side that shows both home with the mountains beyond. All comments and suggestions for improvement are welcome as always.

nice angles. I would work on the greens. Maybe modify the shaders to a darker tones, just like the trees on the backplate.

Thanks for your comments Leo. I spent a lot of time trying to get control of the greens on esp the trees. They were all too dark and so I manage with a ot of effort to make them too light. Some of those materials are very difficult to work with esp when including Forest Material on top of it all. Kind of a frustrating time sink. Anyway I will give it some more effort once I regain some mojo. Adding some clouds to the sky in the one with the streetlight.

yes indeed, adding that most of the trees on the web has terrible shaders setup. mostly you need to make the shader from scratch.

and a small tip, maybe you know this already, If you use proxies on the trees, forest color variation would not work.

For the timber cladding/walls, use multitexture in combination with bercontile to get some tile offset variation going and possibly some minor hue shifts.

.....or if you're on VRay 5, try the new UVWRandomizer
            Kind Regards,

Moreno, I’m using vray5 and will try the UVWRandomizer. Thanks for that!

I like the compositions and backgrounds especially - so well done on that score !

The glass cover on the street lamp in the 2nd shot looks quite unreal to me - too frosted.

                  Some updates.

Jez - I have not addressed the street light globe yet. Waiting for clients to provide info on potential materials changes to more differentiate the houses. The plans have all the same materials arranged a s shown , but they are thinking of changing one of the roofs to black and maybe some other stuff. I will try to make the globe better at that time. image of existing street light, cropped from backplate is attached.

Morne - I'm thinking those new randomization tools may nt work in this case. These houses are imported Revit models from architect. I imported "by materials". The horizontal wood siding is all one editable mesh object with a texture map with box mapping applied to the whole object.

Mainly the updates have worked on the tree greens and added clouds to sky.

Also included is the North view. A challenging assignment. North side is always tricky to light. I used HDRI/dome light. The site is a steep hill. I photographed this form the other side of the street up above the street about 15' on the hillside as it continues to rise up into the mountains. To enter these houses form this side you walk down about 12 steps to a landing and then turn left or right and go down another 6 steps onto the patio(s). The clients really wanted this view because they feel it's important to show the mountain setting beyond. So kind of odd positioning but that's how it will be when constructed. Best I could come up with given the reality of site and surroundings.

Hey man great work! The scene is matching so nicely with the environment!!! Though, I hate to say it but, those trees needs some more manual work. I am sure 2Sided material would help a lot with the amount of sunlight you have there. It is the main thing that steals the realism from these beautiful renders.

First impression for me was that the bush looked like it was a small bush really scaled up, also the road texture doesnt really work, tarmac doesnt follow the curvature...looks a bit odd.

Hi and thank you both for your comments! I am in agreement with you both and those are the things that I notice and wish were improved the most. Those trees drive me crazy. I'm pretty sure they have two sided material but I would need to open the sene to confirm They are mostly from CGAxis. I had so much time in making the greens better I had to move on, thtat's my excuse anyway.

If you are talking about the Lilac bush with the purple flowers I don't think it's scaled up. It is a shrub that comes with the FP starter library I believe. We have those big mature Lilacs here, but they are much taller and more of a vertical than horizontal aspect. I have one in my yard probably 15' tall.

That road texture always bothered me. No one else said anything so I let it slide. Wish I had fixed it. The road geometry needs to be separated so the cross street texture wold then be rotated 90. Possibly a concrete valley pan thru the intersection (one actually is there) but that might be a bit of a visual barrier to the eye for entering the image.

In the end - the client, who is the developer and builder and his wife is the realtor and their partner who is the chairman of the local DRB. absolutely loved the renderings. The projecti s underway and currently the foundations are being formed and poured. I was just informed last week that the house on the corner is under contract for the asking price. the client told me the renderings played an important part in closing the deal!

I had made some minor updates. They wanted to differentiate the materials between the two houses a bit. Below are those updated images.

Thanks again for your helpful and valuable feedback!
