    hello there.

    some pics of a rather ordinary project of ours. Not the most exiting architecture.

    and this one is going to be rerendered with more light above the table

    I love the interiors and the DOF view but there seems to be something odd with the sense of scale on the exterior views maybe its just the camera height.

    I dont think the architecture is that bad either

            DOF doesn't work at that scale. Even with focus set at 8-15' - the chair would be as much in focus as the table. BG is too blurry

            Glass looks good - but too bright inside? The glass in the upper right of the DOF image looks the most realistic color wise.

            Nice people... just got the new kids myself 2 days ago.

                Hey thanks for your C&C's

                @siliconbauhaus

                does it seem strange on the 2 first renders or just the second. Everything is to scale i think, i even scaled the italian lowpoly fellow up a bit ( 1.65m -> 1.78m ) too suit the more cold climate here up north. i agree the second picture has a very boring angle and i will change it.

                @skogskalle

                cheers, its my homegrown onyx hedge. onyx is really great for this kind of stuff. you can even trim the branches to get it right.

                @meanadam

                thanks for your input. i used the great script provided by a fellow vray'er to calculate my f-stop wich is around 1.8 a bit to low perhaps. the bg is a plane with just the sky set very far from the camera and so is reciving the dof from Vray.
                Congrats on the kids.

                  very nice exteriors, the lighting is nice. what intensity do you use for your direct light?

                  are the climbing plants onyx aswell?
                  cheers.

                    thank you

                    the direct light is 1.4 and enviroment is 0.7. The climbing plants are made with parray and splines.

                      seems odd on the first two mate.

                      Your window head would normally be 7' or 2100mm so the woman holding the baby in the first one is either very tall or a bit out of scale. Maybe its the fact that the window head and door head heights are different.

                      Maybe try pulling the camera down as the second one looks like the eye line is at 9' 2700mm.

                      other than that I think they're very well done and I love the interior views

                        nice to get a pair of fresh eyes on it. and good eyes too.

                        the window head is 2100mm the woman is 1696mm she is standing on pavement wich is raised 100mm above ground though.

                        and you were correct bout the cam too, almost, its at 2900mm the reason to raise it was that the sheds are 2500mm at the front wich i thought would cover much of the facade when having a 'real' eyeline. but lowering it to around 1600mm is actually working ok.

                        Thank you for your time.

                            thanks dennis,
                            ill have to try your method for climbers,they work well.
                            your light settings are about opposite to what ive been using,i find i have to use a high enviro. setting 1/1.1 to get plenty of light in and around my plants,but you've managed with a fairly low setting.do you push the local gi up on the plants or is it just the global settings?
                            reason i ask,im using xfrog plants and a lot of the time when i render they tend to result in being a bit dark,so i have to up the local gi(receive).

                            thanks again..
                            jow

                              The third image (with deckchairs) could maybe be enhanced by burning out the highlights more - make it look like a baking hot day. Refer to some of the scenes in the city on Phantom Menace (Naboo?)
