  • Blochy! with funny shadowing!!!

I am having issues with blochy shadows I guess! If you notice on the window trim there is grey spots, and on the fascia of the roof...there is like 12 diffrent colors, it goes form a off white to bright white, to some shades of yellow...what the heck is going on?

Yes this project is about 50% done so there is allot fo fixes with in textures and the model itself!

here are the images, any feedback for this issue is appricated!

    Thanks

Try your Interp. samples more higher (40 or 50)

I use very similar settings to those without problem so i'm guessing that theres a modelling issue for the windows because the error runs along the same place on each (down the middle). Not sure about the fascias...but another option could be the settings of your white material. Is it actually reflecting the background map?

im not sure about the roof but if your windows are AEC windows then change your ray bias to 0.001

Look how you have mapped your envoroment ... that can create the same effects.. !

This must be a coplanar faces problem. Do you have overlapping surfaces on these areas? If yes, try to move them a bit or set the SRB to .001.

Also, try default adaptive QMC 1/4 and high irmap preset. Noise thresh in the Sampler is ok at 0.002.

You might try to use light cache in your secondary bounce and then you can set your irradiance mat to -3 -3

its simple. looking at them they look like aec windows and and of those objects are always known to have co-planar faces. so the ray bias is the answer.

I found the problem with the greyness around or on the windows, Stupid me I had overlaping vertices. as for the fascia it is not reflecting at all, I ahve a pretty standard enviornment setup...I did increse the Interp. Samples to 60 instead of 20 and that made a big diffrence...but there is still some hot spots on the fascia. I have fgone throught and turned off all my lights and turned them on 1 at a time to see if they were the problem. but even with 1 or none i get the odd hot spots...maybe it is my enviornment lighting????? I'm going to keep trying...you only learn by failure....
                      Thanks

How have you mapped your envoroment ? .... and what with ?

the other problems are quite obviously overlapping faces ... but the roof facade is odd ?

Very nice forest at the back Your windows are too reflective and does that fascia have mapping coordinates on it?

Thanks, It is hard to find good High Res, Images these days for good back grounds. But the reason the windows reflect so much in this image, is that there was no interior layout, and the client is really picky if he sees something wrong... but in the new version the reflectiveness has been brough to a min. & I ahve added Curtains and some Interior items that can be faintly seen!

There is a texture with a bump added to it on the fascia but I think the light is over powering it. I have the bump set pretty high! maybe I should be using displacement?
                              Thanks
